Why? Because partner acrobatics is our relative specialty \u2013 and we were focusing on hand-to-hand \u2013 our favorite!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Things started out well when we practiced on the ground \u2013 nice and steady, joints stacked in a nice straight line, a little bit of shakiness, but our coach, Sothea, seemed satisfied\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train22.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1359\" src=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train22-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"train2(2)\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train23.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1360\" src=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train23-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"train2(3)\" width=\"132\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Things changed a good bit however when we moved to standing. In turns out our old way of balancing with hands in front and elbows down is less stable \u2013 I needed to get my elbows up and not let my wrists go flat\u2026 So difficult! It must have taken the Phare performers years to develop the wrist strength!&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train24.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1361\" src=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train24-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"train2(4)\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train25.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1362\" src=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train25-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"train2(5)\" width=\"132\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Apparently when the wrists go flat like this, it makes it far more difficult for the \u201cflyer\u201d to balance as all the weight comes into the heel of the palm and can\u2019t transfer to the knuckles. Sothea demonstrates proper form\u2026<a href=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train26.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1363\" src=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train26.jpg\" alt=\"train2(6)\" width=\"399\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After quickly tiring us out from holding bodyweight, he showed me a fun exercise for working on holding steady while balancing a person\u2026 Instead, you balance an object, like the heavy wooden handstand platform\u2026<a href=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train27.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1364\" src=\"https:\/\/pharecircus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/train27.jpg\" alt=\"train2(7)\" width=\"398\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Definitely not as easy as it looks!
