January 11 to 13 Workshop on “Personal Development and Leadership” for Generation 1, 2, 3 and members of staff in Phare Ponleu Selpak.


The next workshop is for Generation 1, 2 & 3 artists on “Personal Development and Leadership”

1. Reflect about themselves and explore their inner resources and potential;
2. Understand that thinking has no limit. With the right thoughts and actions, even with limited physical resources, many things are achievable;
3. Understand that thought affects the qualities of their performance and life; and with the right thoughts, they can significantly contribute to personal and collective development;
4. Understand and be able to use positive thinking, creative thinking and critical thinking skills.
5. Pathways to achievement– People achieve differently with various degrees of efforts.
6. Dealing with negative thinking: Stress and worries
7. Understand the importance of education and how it can contribute to personal and collective growth
8. Understand themselves better, and realize that they can learn anything they want to
9. Understand how to learn effectively, including how brain works and adopting the reading habit
10. Set learning goals to improve their learning after the course

One very pleasant thing that moved us the most was one artist who does not read and write Khmer has decided to purchase a personal development book from the class to read at home. When asked, he answered “I can read a little bit, I’ll try to read this book!”

About the trainer:
LIM Vannak graduated from the University of Western Sydney-Hawkesbury, Australia in 1995. He majored in Applied Science in Agriculture and Rural Development. His study focused on human dimension of rural development work, specifically on pedagogy for teaching adults, systematic thinking, creative thinking, and effective inter-personal communication methods. He has extensively worked as an independent trainer and consultant for 12 years to provide consulting services, training courses, project evaluation, social research data analysis and translation/interpretation services to UN agencies, NGOs and governmental institutions and private sectors. Some of his major works involve:
In 2012, NGO Governance & Professional Practice in the Cooperation Committee for Cambodia (CCC);
Follow-up work on challenges NGOs face in complying with the Code of Ethical Principles and Minimum Standards for the NGOs in Cambodia;
From 2004 to 2012, conduct training courses on Personal Development, Community Leadership, Organizational Development, Training of Trainers, and Being Employed to staff and management team of NGOs, community leaders, university and school students, and government officers;
From 2005 to 2011,a trainer for GAP Supervisory Skills Training organized by the Mekong Private Sector Development Facility (MPDF) of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and International Labor Organization/ Better Factory Cambodia (ILO/BFC);
In 2008, a trainer for a UNDP project on Access to Justice’s Community Conversation implemented in Siem Reap, Ratanakiri, and Mondolkiri.
