ALL PRODUCTIONS
Phare is a theatrical circus unlike any other. Each show combines acrobatics, live music, dance and drama to tell an authentic Cambodian story — drawn from history, folklore, or modern life. It is not a conventional acrobatic circus. There are no animals used in any Phare performance. Instead, each performance is a complete original production with its own characters, narrative and emotional arc. Shows are performed by Cambodian artists who are students or graduates of Phare Ponleu Selpak, a non-profit arts school in Battambang.
The shows vary in character: some are joyful and light-hearted, others explore deeper human experiences. Some performances include smoke effects, loud music or strobe lights. Show synopses, photos and trailer videos are at https://pharecircus.org/calendar-productions — or speak with our staff if you have any questions.
NOTE: Phare, The Cambodian Circus’ live shows are inspired by the real-life experiences of its creators and performers and deal with themes such as war, discrimination, relationships, poverty and ghosts. Some performances contain smoke, loud noises, music and strobe lights. Please consult with a member of the ticketing staff if you have any concerns or you have very young children.
